Best know for his work during the civil rights movement, famous photographer Charles Moore died this week @ 79. During one of my classes last year we were asked to bring the top 10 photos we wished we would have taken and this image is one I brought with me. I think it is extremely powerful and tells many stories in just one photo. I really enjoy the rest of his work and it is very moving and speaks volumes of the time. He was present for many historical moments in our country. Read more on Charles Moore here. He will be missed!

Peter Criss look alike?
I put this short video together for my friend Bob Newton. He is well-known for his elaborate Halloween costumes and this past one did not disappoint. What a great night we all had and I am definitely looking forward to what he pulls off this year!

Location Shoot

This is my image for our on location shoot for Advanced Commercial class, and I had a great time with this shoot. The goal was to mix ambient light and strobe to produce a unique out of the studio shot. I enjoy shooting outside of the studio but we ended up creating this “mini studio” outside. I guess you can never really escape it, a studio is just where you are!

6 down..2 to go!!
So one more week and another successful quarter is in the bag. Two more to go and we will officially be graduates of the Commercial Photography program @ Gwinnett Tech. It is hard to believe that this much time has flown by so quickly. I am really looking forward to next quarter which will be our internship and architecture. Today we worked on the last of the assignments due next week. Chaos from the last few weeks while working on our portfolios, has led to an increase in sugar consumption and decrease in our sanity. What a fun shoot that led to!

Portfolio Development
The last few weeks have been pushing us forward and quickly. Every week we have an assignment due to fill a spot in different sections of our portfolio. We have 5 different sections broken into A,B,C,D,&E with different categories based on landscapes, portraits, specialized study, commercial work, photoj, etc…The pages also have to follow the guidelines for our portfolio books we are buying. Its exciting to think how far we have come, September is not that far away!!
This was my assignment I turned in for Section A-where photojournalism falls…I need to work on the print and will turn this in again at the end of the quarter.

Commercial Photo Class

Today we were given a reprieve on an assignment due next week. Looks like we have a bit more time to shoot for both our Commercial and Portfolio development class. I have enjoyed the commercial class a lot. Looks like I will be taking a redo for my liquor shot and jewelry. I had a great time today shooting with classmates Nicole & Jayne. Fun day and lots of experiementing with ideas and lighting.
This photo was for our still life assignment we critiqued last week, overall I was pretty happy with it, and am going to work on the concept again..

Imaging USA!
So today was a fantastic day, I received a photo I have been waiting on for weeks! The PPA”s Imaging USA was held in Nashville TN just a month ago. Several classmates and myself volunteered for almost a week, it was an incredible experience. One of the highlights of the week for me was a group jowling photo. We had a volunteer meeting one of the first nights…See basic jowling info here, classmate Damian made an “how-to” infomercial for jowling watch it here.
We made it onto the jowlers website See here…
This was a short instructional on how to jowl for the group… photo Victor Bruce

The finished product…I think we can take the record on jowlers…21 was a large group jowl..and we double them!
..Photo Victor Bruce

Lots of fun stuff to finally post from the Nashville trip, what a great way to start the story!
Gigantic thanks to Victor Bruce, the PPA photographer for the week. He was so kind to take part in our antics. Thanks!

King O’Sullivan Winter Fies
This past weekend I had the opportunity to photograph a feis It was my first time and what an experience it was! 400 girls from all over the country danced their hearts out. I do have to say I was a little unsure of what I was getting myself into, but once I arrived I knew this was going to be a blast. The place was packed, and full of dancing little girls and hair everywhere! I think all the hairstyling was my one of the highlights for me. I have a new respect for the girls and the type of athleticism that is involved. There are all athletes in the true form. I have never seen feet move so fast in person. The music was great and with most of the dancing choreographed to the music, I still cant get that tapping/accordian sound out of my head. I should have the photos up this weekend and am really looking forward to doing this again! Check out more Irish dancing info here.

Most realistic cg image ever
I was stunned to find this photograph today on the techeblog. It is a creation using 3-D software. It is quite amazing to think this was all created on a computer. Maybe one day we will all be obsolete for the 3-D versions of ourselves
Pretty amazing stuff, it just proves that us as photographers are going to need to step up our game to compete with stuff like this! Simply Amazing! Read more on the article here.
