King O’Sullivan Winter Fies

This past weekend I had the opportunity to photograph a feis It was my first time and what an experience it was! 400 girls from all over the country danced their hearts out. I do have to say I was a little unsure of what I was getting myself into, but once I arrived I knew this was going to be a blast. The place was packed, and full of dancing little girls and hair everywhere! I think all the hairstyling was my one of the highlights for me. I have a new respect for the girls and the type of athleticism that is involved. There are all athletes in the true form. I have never seen feet move so fast in person. The music was great and with most of the dancing choreographed to the music, I still cant get that tapping/accordian sound out of my head. I should have the photos up this weekend and am really looking forward to doing this again! Check out more Irish dancing info here.

Most realistic cg image ever

I was stunned to find this photograph today on the techeblog. It is a creation using 3-D software. It is quite amazing to think this was all created on a computer. Maybe one day we will all be obsolete for the 3-D versions of ourselves :)   Pretty amazing stuff, it just proves that us as photographers are going to need to step up our game to compete with stuff like this! Simply Amazing! Read more on the article here.

Photographers in Haiti Face Shortages of Fuel, Water, Housing, and Food

Interesting view from Photo District News on the photographers working in Haiti right now. I wish them, and everyone down there safe travels and hope they are rewarded for their efforts.

Pants on the ground!

Here he is…General Larry Platt..age 62 and a civil rights leader from the 60’s..honored by Mr. Hosea Williams himself…and 15 minute American Idol hall of famer….I do believe Mr Platt’s rendition of pants on the ground was not to become America’s next Idol, or to make Pants on the ground a #1 hit. I believe he has a bigger vision..for every person singing pants on the ground..there is someone asking who is Troy Davis..Well, I am Troy Davis..We all are Troy Davis. It means far more to have these images not because Larry Platt was on American Idol, but for his activism with the Troy Davis case, and many other social cases. I have been singing this song for several days though…and I am glad someone said it..You do look like a fool with your pants on the ground.. :) Stay tuned, more Troy Davis photos to come!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease.

As you can tell I am looking forward to snow this year. In Atlanta, it usually skips right over us, but I have a feeling with all the crazy weather rain and cold we have had this year, we may see snow. I would like to get some cool snow shots. Merry Christmas to all. I hope your time with family is good, and the giving to others is better. Happy shooting everyone!!!

Hooray for the holidays

Now that we have finished shooting holiday portraits and we are all done with our photojournalism essays, it’s time to get out and play. Alot of people near my house are starting to get their Christmas decorations put up and I would like to spend some time taking photographs of the holiday lights. When we were kids, we always went to the Lights of Life to see the lights and now that I am a photographer, it presents new challenges. Looking around on the internet, I found a great site, The Strobist, and they have some information. Check it out.
